Lately, I’ve been building a lot of websites for clients using Wordpress and premium themes from Press75.com and ThemeShift.com. I decided it was time to redesign my personal portfolio site using Wordpress as well.
My previous site was built using the wonderful and easy to use RapidWeaver from Realmac Software but I’m often finding myself wanting to update the site when I’m away from one of my own computers. Wordpress allows me to update the site using any computer with an internet connection and a web browser.
I also made the switch to Wordpress because it’s what I’m most familiar with. I use it on client projects all the time so I figure I might as well spend my time working on Wordpress sites and themes exclusively. I spent the better part of the day yesterday, while in jury duty, customizing Press75’s On Demand theme to fit my needs. I have to thank ChrisPhoto.com for the inspiration and layout. His site is very clean and I did my best to match his site while adding a few touches of my own.
Installing the site was the easy part, the hard part is going to be adding content and keeping the site fresh. I have a bunch of videos and photos, some from the old site and lots of new stuff too, that I’ll be adding to the portfolio sections. I’m also going to post tips and tricks on photography, video editing, media management and even some stuff on surviving as a freelancer! I’ll post updates via Facebook and maybe Twitter, I’m really not hooked on Twitter yet but we’ll see…
Thanks for stopping by…
